Letter re Sequence of Knocklyon Road / Firhouse Road Traffic Lights

18 April 2014

Roads Department
County Hall
Dublin 24

Dear Ms Leonard

Locals coming from Knocklyon Road face delays getting onto the main road because of the traffic light sequence at the junction of Knocklyon Road and the Firhouse Road. They have to wait for three cycles of light changes before the pedestrians are allowed to cross and it is only then that the cars have a chance to cross the junction.

We realise that traffic on the main road should be kept as free flowing as possible but during peak times there is too much of an imbalance at present. The sequence could be changed for a trial basis at least to see if that alleviates the situation and monitor any knock-on effects.

Another, smaller, problem with a local traffic light is that the crossing lights on Old Bridge Road are covered by the leaves of a tree outside

Yours sincerely

Suzanne McEneaney
