Hello, my name is Suzanne McEneaney, I have been a Learning Support teacher at second level for 20 years and am a mother of two boys.

Since its founding in 1981, the Greens have had an unblemished record in Local Government.  The Mahon Tribunal report (costing c. 14 million euros) commended only one political party for its lack of involvement in planning corruption – the Green Party.

I have been involved in Dodder Action since its early days and so I am well aware of the importance of an effective and efficient waste policy if we are to pass on the beauties of nature to our children and grandchildren.    https://www.facebook.com/groups/380955755289497/599272826791121/?notif_t=group_comment#!/pages/Dodder-Action/262894190451698?fref=ts

I have also been involved with the Rathfarnham Tidy Village and District (Tidy Towns project)

and with the residents’ association in the Butterfield area of Rathfarnham.  The Tidy Towns competition is a good ‘brand’ and there is definitely scope to get more groups up and running in the Templeogue-Terrenure ward.  SDCC have recently earmarked funds for village developments throughout the area.

Safe cycling – which includes keeping cyclists out of the way of pedestrians – is another priority I have identified through canvassing and involvement in the Dodder project.  As the number of cyclists increases, motorists are becoming more aware and respectful of them but where there aren’t proper cycle lanes cyclists get in the way of pedestrians or are at risk from cars.  This especially effects the rates of children cycling to school and contributes to the morning rush hour congestion.

I have served as group secretary for Dublin South Greens and on the party’s Education policy group. am passionate about the power of education since my experience teaching students with literacy difficulties has really brought home to me the power of language and the transformation that inclusion can make to an individual and indeed the whole community. The Green Party Education Policy Group where brings forward policies that will enrich education and combat disadvantage in the most cost-effective and sustainable way possible.

I am enjoying meeting people living in the area and working on those issues which will improve our quality of life.  Please contact me about local issues that need to be highlighted.
